Paul Heppner is GST's Director of IT and Weather Systems. Mr. Heppner directs and manages GST's IT infrastructure and the company’s commercial weather system business. He has substantial senior program management experience on meteorological information processing systems and application programs, including GST's DirectMet satellite ground stations and METLAB meteorological workstations. During his career, Mr. Heppner developed and implemented meteorological workstation technology that has modernized forecast operations at dozens of meteorological agencies worldwide, particularly in support of the World Area Forecast System (WAFS) for aviation meteorology.
At GST, Mr. Heppner managed and developed programs that are the gateway to NOAA of meteorological data from non-federal fixed site, mobile platform, and vertical profiling stations. Mr. Heppner developed and implemented the nation’s first mobile platform meteorological network (MoPED) for NOAA.
Mr. Heppner received both his Master of Science and Bachelor of Science degrees in Meteorology from the Pennsylvania State University, and holds a Project Management Professional (PMP®) certification from the Project Management Institute.
